1990 – Oyster 435 with Volvo D2-60 engine

One of the most popular Oyster designs ever, sixty-five 435s were launched between 1983 and 1995.

Blue hull, all furling sloop rig. Shallow “Scheel” keel. Teak internal joinery and accommodation for 6 in 3 cabins, excluding the saloon.

Construction

Blue GRP hull (Awlgrip sprayed in 2002 with gold style lines)

Underwater surfaces epoxied from new, blasted and re-epoxied 2002.

Shallow lead “Scheel” keel.

Skeg hung rudder with Whitlock cable linked wheel steering.

White GRP deck, superstructure and self-draining center cockpit.

Teak laid side decks, coach roof, cockpit seats & sole.

Custom made teak cockpit backrests.

Saloon – C shaped settee to port, custom drop leafed table with drinks locker. Light from deck saloon windows – forward windows opening.

Custom modifications allow the C shaped settee to be converted into a double berth.

Chart table – to starboard with navigators’ seat, table with chart stowage, switch panels and instrumentation.

Galley – to starboard in walkway to aft cabin. 2 x s/s sinks, H & C water, manual sea and fresh water pumps. Four burner gas cooker with oven and grill. Microwave. Frigoboat top opening freezer with keel cooler. Frigoboat s/s fridge with keel cooler.  Storage and good work surfaces.

Aft cabin – Large centreline double bed, storage lockers to starboard, and large lockers under bed. Small settee and vanity unit to port.

Aft heads – en-suite with Tapmate deluxe washbasin, shower with drain, sea toilet, piped to holding tank.

Owners Comments

I will truly miss this boat. It has given us tremendously good service, is incredibly capable, and is built to last. With its 10 mm rigging, excellent upwind performance even under Genoa alone, and a host of extras which make her well worthwhile. I will be very sorry to see her go.
